Beginning in the late 60's Gary Curtis raced motorcycles, earning two state and three regional championships along with 69 wins and 188 top five finishes in state, regional and national competition. From this start, Gary Curtis moved on to compete in the Bondurant Pro Search program. The following year, Gary Curtis successfully competed in formula 2000 races in both the US and Canada. By the 90's, Gary Curtis was winning SCCA races, and in 1992 Donnybrooke Motorsports became his primary sponsor. In 1997 and 1998 Curtis won his class in the Minneapolis Grand Prix. And in 2000 & 2001 you could have watched Gary Curtis on the SPEED Channel, winning races in the American Le Mans Panoz GTS Pro Series. In fact, Curtis won that series in 2001. Gary Curtis is currently the owner of the Gary Curtis Driving Experience and was formerly the owner and lead instructor of the BIR Performance Driving School at the Brainerd International Raceway. During his 25 year tenure at BIR, Gary founded the Performance Driving School, the StreetSmarts Advanced Defensive Driving School, SafeGuard Anti-terrorism and Evasion School, the SCCA Competition Licensing School and the SafePursuit EVOC School. Prior to founding the SafePursuit EVOC school, Gary trained under the tutelage of Ruben Marichalar, the Minnesota State Patrol EVOC Coordinator and Lead Instructor. After completing training in 2008, Gary has hosted hundreds of State Patrol, Sheriff’s Department and local law enforcement officers in all qualifying categories of EVOC including PIT training. Gary Curtis is perhaps the most qualified and knowledgeable driving instructor in the State of Minnesota having devoted his life and career to training drivers in all categories of racing and high performance driving.
